Getting engaged is such a special moment-and planning a photo shoot to capture that feeling should be just as exciting (and stress-free). Over the years, we’ve worked with many amazing couples in Albuquerque and beyond, and we’ve learned a few things that can help make your engagement shoot feel like you.
So here’s a simple, helpful guide if you’re planning your shoot and wondering where to begin.
1. Pick a Spot That Feels Like You
Whether you're into mountain views, colorful murals, or quiet nature trails, Albuquerque has so many beautiful places to shoot.
Some of our favorite engagement shoot locations:
Sandia Foothills – soft golden light, mountain views
Old Town – charming, colorful, and classic
Bosque Trail – especially in the fall, it's stunning
Downtown ABQ – great for something modern with a fun city feel

2. What to Wear (and What to Avoid)
You don’t need to dress fancy unless you want to-but here are a few outfit tips we always share with our couples:
Stick to solid colors or earth tones
Avoid logos or super busy patterns
Coordinate without totally matching
Bring two outfits if you want: one dressy, one casual
We’ve seen couples wear boots, sneakers, even barefoot in the sand-so go with what feels like you. Make sure to always carry comfortable slippers if there is a lot of walking involved.
3. When’s the Best Time to Shoot?
We love golden hour. It’s the hour before sunset when the light gets soft and warm. It’s perfect for that romantic look you see in a lot of our photos.
Early mornings can work too-especially if you want that soft light and an empty location.
4. Want to Bring Your Dog? Please Do.
Seriously. Bring your pup, your guitar, a picnic blanket-whatever tells your story. We’ve even done shoots at locations where couples met for first time to their proposal location. It’s your moment. Let’s make it personal.
5. What It’s Like to Work With Us
A lot of our couples tell us afterward: “That felt more like a date than a photoshoot.” And that’s exactly what we want.
We’re not going to over-pose you or make things awkward. We guide you naturally and help you feel comfortable from the start. Laugh, move, talk to each other-we’ll capture the real stuff.
6. Want a Short Engagement Video Too?
We also offer 1–2 minute engagement films if you want to capture this chapter in motion. A lot of couples use them for their wedding websites, social media, also some play during their wedding reception in the background
If you're into that, just let us know when you book your session!

This is soooo helpful, I appreciate that it’s more of a fun experience catered to your clients personal story. The allowing of pets for shoots is awesome because it’s a good way to involve the fur babies in the wedding process!♥️
This is super helpful! Thank you 🥰
